http://arch2o.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Arch2o-Nazareth-Oliver-Shalabi-3.jpgThe venture rests on the boundary between 2 places, Nazareth and Nazareth illit. Both places lie in the north area of Israel.

Nazareth, is the biggest Arabic town in Israel, and it has been been increasing for centuries. It’s a padded complicated town  which was affected by many societies over the record. Its spiritual and traditional importance Has converted it into a middle of the area, assisting up to 200,000 individuals from within the town as well as towns around it.Arch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi-POSTER 1 (1)
However few decades after the organization of Israel , Aspect of the area of Nazareth town was seized to be able to develop  a new town – Known as Nazareth illit ( Higher Nazareth). The new developed town was first developed as a little Judaism community within the town of Nazareth, however few decades after the development of the community it withdrew its limitations and became an separate town called Nazareth Illit. Since Nazareth illit was pre-planned and developed, compared with the natural development of Nazareth, it gradually became the middle of the area assisting all the towns while Nazareth’s prospective has been decreasing ever since, many of the features from the town middle moved towards the outside of the town as well as to the new Nazareth illit. This has led to some kind of non-balance between 2 places that are divided with an intercity street – called street 75.Arch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi (10)
Both places are absolutely different, in their way of life, structure and typologies. Nazareth illit can be described as the contemporary town with its common residence foundations and commercial places, while Nazareth can be described as a conventional Arabic town with its language low-rise individual homes . The inhabitants in Nazareth has been increasing while its place almost did not modify since the growth of Nazareth illit (which has instantly obstructed Nazareth from growing), and these days the place of the new Nazareth illit is almost 3.5 periods the place of Nazareth with 50 percent of its inhabitants. Significance the total well being in Nazareth dropped and viceversa.Arch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi (6)All this has led to  a non-balance between both nearby factors, in addition to the public and governmental stress between both countries of both places (Arabs and Jews). And these days, Both places are resting next to each other, divided by an intercity street known as street 75.Arch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi (5)

CONCEPT

The idea was to take this “linear” Border( Street 75) that distinguishes both factors, dissipate it and crack it down to make a new world rather than a fresh range splitting both factors. The place between both places which I make reference to as the “Buffer Zone” is an vacant area that increased automatically between both factors. The idea is to take this Shield area, which functions as a dark gap that disconnects both factors, and convert it into a new middle which will assistance the whole area and gradually link both factors. Moreover, including a new facilities program (light train) which will link this  new suggested middle with the cores of both places which are :

-          The old town middle of Nazareth

-          The commercial place of Nazareth illitArch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi (9)The new middle that joins to both places, makes a third part or a third town depending on both places, which will determine a new purchase in which there are more possibilities for both factors.

In the new suggested middle, there are personal features, Community, And an academic university.Arch2o-Nazareth Oliver Shalabi-POSTER 1 (2)

After working on the common master plan of the center, within the city perspective I made the decision to create the academic university developing.

The typology of the complicated is natural streaming types which allows the developing to  combine and combination in the current terrain to make a simple, little impact on the site. This streaming typology also allows the relationships between both factors in a sleek and constant way as well as in between characteristics and the built atmosphere.
